Among other picks in last night's draft, the Red Sox came away with Blake Swihart. He is generally regarded as the best available catcher in this year's draft. He is a switch-hitter who hit 0.529 during his junior year of high school. He also claims to be able to to throw 95 mph and dunk a basketball. Some interviews with the kid are available

here. It's too soon to be making any predictions, but it's good to see the Red Sox getting a catcher into the system.
Agree 100%! one of the odd things about baseball is how tough it is to develop good catchers! Also, personal connection: Swihart is from Rio Rancho, NM, the town I worked in for a year.
