July check-in.

45.5 miles for me. I wanted more, but July 2011 was the hottest month ever in DC history, so I just couldn't manage it.

What've y'all got?

  1. Around 67 miles in 13 runs. Probably could have done more if I wasn't on vacation for a good chunk of the month and it wasn't so stinkin' hot (despite running in the morning).

Have to sit down and plan out my mileage goals for August. Hoping to get in my first 10+ mile run by the end of the month if all goes well.

  2. nice work guys!

joel, how many runs did you do this month?

todd, don't be so nonchalant about 67 miles, i think that's about the most i've run in any month this year.

loads of life's events keeping my tally where it is, but i'm proud of my 50.22 over 15 runs in 7:20:32.

  3. Sounds like I have some catching up to do.

I only managed five runs (and one of those runs accounted for almost half of my total mileage).

August is going to be a low-mileage month for me, between the heat, the fact that my in-laws are in town for a week, and that I'm going on vacation for a week at the end of the month.

On the other hand, I'm hoping to get a lot more reading in than I have in a while. And, once work slows down, a lot more Red Sox.

  4. Eric, I think it doesn't feel as impressive as it could be because i've done it in such short distances. For instance, on Block Island, one of my 8 miles runs was actually two 3.5 mile runs split up by hanging out at the lighthouse, then a quick swim before running the last mile home. I only did two runs more than 6 miles, something that'll need to change as the marathon training begins... Hopefully this won't mean less time for the other two Rs (not like i've had a lot of time to indulge in them recently)...
